Our Baby Is 2!!

Isaiah actually turned 2 years old last Wednesday but we celebrated him this past weekend, on the 22nd which happened to be my sister's birthday. lol

I can't even believe he is 2 already!! Crazy how time flies! Come join the party!

The party was monster truck themed so we had trucks everywhere, on the table cloth, on the cake, "driving" up the cookies, into the chips, on the temporary tattoos scattered around the table.

The FOOD!! Everyone loves food! We had all kinds of goodies, a huge monster truck cake, chips, chips, cookies, cookies (yes, 2 kinds of each), brownies, chocolate chip stuffed raspberries, fruit salad, baby carrots.

The party people. Hanging out. Playing. Yes, we have a swing set slide in our living room...you don't? You don't know what you're missing.

The CAKE! I was originally going to make the cake but at the last minute we decided to just buy one. The one we found at our local grocery store was PERFECT! Isaiah loved it, he wouldn't leave it alone on the table. He kept trying to take the truck off before it was time. lol Last year he didn't like everyone singing, this year he was ok with it up until everyone said his name in the happy birthday song then he started crying. I don't know if it scared him or what but he wasn't a fan. lol Also, we never practiced blowing out candles so we let big brother handle that part.

The GIFTS! Isaiah ended up with the perfect gifts for his taste at the moment. He got a trash truck that lifts the trash can and dumps the "yuck" (as Isaiah calls it) into the truck. He got a playmobil bus because he is into them right now. He also got a monster truck that drives and does wheelies. He got a fire truck he can push himself around on. I also created a shutterfly photo book with pictures from the monster truck show we recently took him to. He loved everything!

Since Picnik closed I've been using PicMonkey to create my photo collages and I have to say, I love it, maybe even more than Picnik!

Everyone Loves A Carnival!

A few weeks ago we went to a carnival a local fire company hosted. It was lots of fun. See for your self!
Alex, Tim and Phil went on the Bumper Cars!
Then Phil convinced Alex to ride the Zipper!
Phil kept trying to flip the cage while Alex tried to counter his movement so it wouldn't flip. Alex lost, it flipped, several times!
Next up was the FUN Slide! Where Tim almost fell from the top trying to get situated in his burlap bag thing.
They also convinced Alex to ride the Himalaya! I'm starting to think you could convince him to do just about anything! Everyone's all smiles so far...oh wait, the ride isn't moving yet.

More around and around...and around and around.
Alex is starting to look a little scared!
 Um...yeah. No words. lol
I think Alex has hit his "fun" limit for the day week month.
Isaiah was content with his soft pretzel.
These loonies decided to go on it again.
 Look out, he's gonna BLOW!
Just kidding, he didn't. But this does look kind of painful for him.

Fishing Creek

As I've stated in previous blogs that we pretty much live in the middle of nowhere so we tend to come up with our own (maybe not so normal) things to do to entertain ourselves. This is one of those things.

Play in Fishing Creek!

There's a road that runs along a creek, "runs along" is sort of an understatement as the road and creek actually intertwine with each other. Meaning there are sections of the road where you have to drive through the creek to get to the other side of the road!

Observe...

The creek runs this way --- and the road runs this way |. Hopefully you can make sense of that looking at the picture. lol

Alex, Tim and Isaiah playing in the road section of the creek. As you've probably guessed there usually isn't much "traffic".

Alex and Isaiah enjoying the warm sun and cool water.

Tim skipping rocks. He always tries to teach me but I can never seem to do it.

He tries to find little rocks to chew on. eww.

We went for a walk and Tim didn't have shoes on so Alex offered him a piggy back ride and when Isaiah saw Daddy carrying someone else he thought Daddy needed to be carrying him too. Even though I was already carrying him. lol

Laying in the road. Doesn't everyone do that?

Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho, it's BACK to work I go!

Back story: Last Friday marked my last official day of maternity leave, granted I had been doing some work from home here and there over the past 2 weeks, but still, I was HOME with the babies baby and 9 year old to be exact.

Alex was off the weekend before I had to go back which was nice because (well It’s always nice when he is home) we were able to spend time together doing things so I wasn’t sitting home thinking about the impending Monday to come.

The week: The dreaded Monday finally arrived, on Monday morning of all times (how about that). The alarm went off at 6:30, 6:45 and again at 7am so I finally decided that it was, in fact, MY alarm and that I needed to get up and get ready. So I did. I got up, got ready, gathered my 50 million 4 bags, cuddled the baby, passed out kisses and left the house. :(

Alex called during my 45 minute drive to work to make sure I wasn’t crying my eyes out, and I wasn’t, but it was nice that he called anyway. Once I finally arrived it was like I had never left. I mean sure people would stop by my office and say “welcome back” and ask how things were going but other than that it was business as usual. Mondays always seem to fly by so before I knew it the day was over and I was on my way back home to my 3 loves. Tuesday and Wednesday were status quo ante as well.

Final thoughts: So even though going back to work after being home for 10 weeks wasn’t as dreadfully awful as I worked it up in my mind to be I still liked being home when Alex was off, I liked not knowing what time of day, day of the week or even day of the month it was. There were no due dates, no meetings, no phone calls to make/receive, no audits to be done, it was nice. Very nice.

New Baby = New Car??

It does for us!!

We traded in my 2005 Kia Sorento for a new (to us) 2007 Honda Odyssey and we love it!! We started talking about getting an Odyssey before Isaiah was born, after Alex installed the car seat in his Honda Civic and had to move his driver seat forward causing him to drive with scrunched up legs. LOL

His car is paid off so it only made sense to trade in the one we still owed money on (and had problems of its own). It was actually the best thing for us; we ended up with the van we wanted, lower monthly payments and lower insurance! Woo Hoo!

Memory Lane...

And now, out with the old and in with the new...

One Month Old

2,678,400 seconds = 44,640 minutes = 744 hours = 31 days = 1 month!

Isaiah is 1 month old today! My my how time does fly when you’re having fun! It has been an exciting and eventful month. His first month of life consisted of: venturing out to several different malls (in search of ER season 6 and just to get out and do some walking) where he proceeded to pee all over the front passenger seat of the car during an impromptu diaper change, soccer practices which consisted of a few more in car diaper changes (have you ever tried changing a baby on the front seat of a car?? It’s not an easy task!), soccer games, the outlet mall, Wal-Mart, Grandma’s house and hiking at the park. His first restaurant experience was Cracker Barrel where he was a perfect angel!

As I said, it was a pretty eventful first month so there may be adventures that I’m forgetting but this pretty much sums it all up. Oh, wait, we can’t forget his 1 month birthday party that we had for him yesterday with cake and everything! Of course he pretty much slept through the whole thing but we had family over and the cake was yummy! We will be getting his 1 month pictures done tomorrow; we set out to get them done today but ran out of time so we will try again tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures of the past month…
